Between them, the Directors of GMI Property have over 85 years’ combined experience in commercial and residential property development and have successfully delivered some of the region’s most high-profile developments including Thorpe Park, the North East’s premier business park extending to over 200 acres and Bridgewater Place in Leeds. They have also extensive knowledge of working with local authorities on complex regeneration schemes, including the procurement of the redevelopment of Clay Cross town centre in Derbyshire.

Peter Gilman

Peter Gilman - Chairman

Peter founded the wider group of GMI companies back in 1986, including GMI Construction. He has been at the forefront of the property development sector in Leeds throughout this time and led the establishment of Thorpe Park – one of the UK’s largest Business Parks.

Peter is a passionate football supporter having previously been Board Director of Leeds United FC from 1980 to 1996 and on the board at Walsall FC since 2006.

Chris Gilman

Chris Gilman - Managing Director

Chris graduated in 1988 and joined Bernard Thorpe & Partners. When they became DTZ in 1992, Chris was appointed Associate Director, gaining valuable experience in the development consultancy and retail and leisure departments before joining Bass Plc as Acquisitions and Development Manager in 1995. He joined Landmark Development Projects as a Director in 1997 where he was responsible for numerous commercial and mixed use schemes throughout the north including Bridgewater Place in Leeds, a 500,000 sq ft mixed use scheme and at the time the tallest building in the north of England.

Chris joined Peter Gilman as Managing Director at the GMI Holdings Group in 2011. Since then he has been responsible for developing out the company’s land bank, building up the property portfolio in the company pension fund as well as sourcing and developing new projects including a 386 bed student residential scheme with Leeds City Council and the Vita Group and three separate retail and mixed use schemes with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council

Chris has been involved in a wide range of major projects in the office, retail, industrial, education, residential and leisure sectors. Chris specialises in working with end-occupiers, putting together schemes to match their specific needs, delivering the building and providing funding solutions.

Chris’ energy, drive and commitment continues to take GMI Property forward as a successful development company.

Andrew Crowther

Andrew Crowther - Development Director

Andrew was elected as a member of the RICS in 1992, whilst working as senior surveyor at Barclay Property Holdings, Birmingham. He then subsequently spent a number of years working in London, primarily on the client side for the Marcol Group, a commercial property development company, where he was senior project manager taking responsibility for delivering a number of high-profile central London commercial and regional industrial schemes.

Andrew relocated back to Yorkshire in 2002, to head up the Building & Project Consultancy team at Donaldsons in Leeds, before setting up his own practice in 2006, and then after two successful years founded Crowther Turnbull Booth. His focus in recent years has been to act for property owners and developers in delivering high value commercial schemes in the mixed use residential/office, industrial and healthcare sectors.

Although still actively involved in Crowther Turnbull Booth, Andrew joined the board of GMI Property in 2019 to oversee the delivery of the group’s various development projects.

Rebecca Youdan

Rebecca Youdan - Senior Project Manager

After becoming a member of the RICS in 2005, Becky worked for nearly a decade at Sanderson Weatherall and GVA, where her main focus was in Project Management and Monitoring roles for both institutional and Public Sector clients.

As a result Becky gained experience on a variety of significant projects, from complex redevelopment of historic buildings through to new build call centres and distribution centres across the country. Becky joined GMI in 2019 as Senior Project Manager to assist in the delivery of a range of development projects.
