Firm doubles offices with extra 7,000 sq ft

Leading professional advisory and support services firm, AdviserPlus, has doubled the size of its offices at GMI Development’s The Waterfront office scheme in Shipley, West Yorkshire due to sustained company growth and future job creation requirements.

AdviserPlus has signed a new lease until 2020 for an additional 7,500 sq ft of office space, taking its total accommodation at The Waterfront to 15,000 sq ft which will enable the firm to expand its current workforce of around 80 to 160 as the business grows.

The company moved into The Waterfront in 2009 with just 13 staff and within a year it had already outgrown its 3,000 sq ft suite. Nationwide contracts are serviced from the Shipley base by the local workforce AdviserPlus has recruited over the last 5 years and forthcoming projects could see some 80 new jobs created.

Duncan Jubb, Financial and Commercial Director at AdviserPlus, comments; “We have enjoyed sustained  and significant growth since establishing our offices at The Waterfront and it has been fantastic to expand within our existing base to eliminate any disruption to the business, the staff and our customers. We have a number of new contracts in the pipeline and our larger offices will enable us to recruit in accordance with these. We are committed to creating jobs within the locality and look forward to expanding the business in the forthcoming months.”

GMI Developments acquired the modern 4 storey, 40,000 sq ft office building five years ago following its earlier development by sister company, GMI Construction.  Situated on the banks of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal, The Waterfront was developed in a traditional mill style to compliment its local historic surroundings and neighbouring Salts Mill World Heritage Site.

In addition to AdviserPlus, occupiers in The Waterfront include Mcmillan Cancer Support, technology firm Red Embedded and community energy specialist ENER-G Switch2. Following this latest deal, just one suite of 6,000 sq ft is available to let via the appointed scheme agents BNP Paribas and DTZ.

Chris Gilman, Managing Director of GMI Developments, said; “The Waterfront continues to be a popular business location and it is fantastic that AdviserPlus has decided to expand within the building, both retaining and creating jobs in Shipley. There is no finer testament to a building’s success than when the tenants choose to stay and grow within it and we are delighted to have been able to support this exciting growing business.”

GMI Developments is a Leeds-based commercial property development company specialising in bringing forward complex regeneration projects in partnership with both public and private sector organisations.
